It’s the first insider email I’ve written for two months. In late September I fell apart. I had over done it when my husband and I braved “the queue” to see the late Queen lying in state.

Having suffered fatigue for so many months and then being able to queue overnight for 12 hours without being tired, I thought I was cured and “back to normal”. I spent the next few days walking more in order to build on that surge of fitness.

A few days later I crashed. It turns out that I’m not back to full strength after all.  It wasn’t doing “the queue” that pushed me over the edge but the days that followed!

I feel that most of September disappeared, thanks to Her Majesty. She passed away in early September, but by the time the immense mourning period was over and we all stumbled bleary eyed back into the normal levels of gloom and depressive news stories, it was a good way through September. Then Liz Truss, our short-lived prime minister, took it upon herself to blow up the British economy. And that was pretty much September!

My husband and I were away for the last couple of days of the month. Usually I plan ahead and would have got the Insider email written and scheduled in advance, but I lost it and had to stop everything to re-group.

Thankfully, I have improved since returning from holiday and there are a couple of factors behind this.
