Ah, thank you for this (and sorry about Covid and months of fatigue, hope you are getting better). I actually know this is true. I was able to change my work from 5 days/week to 4 (I am so grateful for this privilege) but I 100% knew I needed to deal with the extreme burnout I was facing and the death of my mother before I was really going to get more time to write. Still, sometimes I will be a little hard on myself thinking I "should" be getting more done. Shoulding on myself is never helpful! I dream of being free of the corporate grind (and am quick to say to the universe not at the expense of health or finances which would just add stress!) but I also know, really, I probably wouldn't create a lot more. When I feel like I would create more, that might be the time!
It's like you have a window into my mind! I've often fantasized about writing full time but know the reality would probably be very arduous. Though I'd love to try out a trial run with a sabbatical one day. While the amount that I write might not increase dramatically, it would be nice to have that extra time to read more, both for writing projects and for pleasure.
Would You Really Write More If You Didn’t Have A Job?
